How to insert and remove a menses cup?
- Before the first use, the Menses Cup must be sterilized for 5 min in boiling water in large quantities or sterilizer (also, at the first time, it is always necessary to rinse the cup with cold water).
- From the next use, this sterilization process must be repeated to maintain hygiene.
- During your periods, it is sufficient to clean the Menses Cup under running water if you have a washbasin available or with toilet paper and a wet wipe after having emptied it. Then it can be reintroduced. Make sure to always use your menstrual cup with clean hands.
How to insert your Menses Cup?
During the first uses, it is advisable to wet the menstrual cup (when taking a shower for example), or to use a water-based lubricant (the same as for sex).
Once you get used to it and trust it, you’ll be able to insert it without lubricant and water.
The Menses Cup is positioned lower than a tampon. It stays perfectly in place thanks to the vaginal wall and the pressure of the vaginal muscles. It is carefully designed for this specific purpose.

Here are the key steps to remove the cup:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before removing.
- Take a comfortable position to relax the muscles of your vagina.
- Relax and remove the Menses Cup by pinching it (as if to introduce it) to create a depression. For this, turn the cup or push with the muscles of your vagina to remove it more easily.
- Be careful not to spoil the menstrual cup with your nails.
- Be patient during the first use.
You must remove and empty your Menses Cup every six hours depending on how heavy your flow is. Then rinse with cold water or simply wipe and reinsert. It must be sterilized before the start of your period.

- The Menses Cup cannot be used during penetrative sex.

- The menstrual cup can be worn at any time during your cycle, during the most important and the lightest periods.
- It is not necessary to remove the menstrual cup to go to the bathroom, just make sure that the cup is still in place. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly!
